- About Me
I am originally born and raised in the U.S. but now I live in South Korea as an English teacher. I enjoy working out, library, plays, traveling. I hope to travel all of Asia and parts of Eastern Europe, Africa, Central. S. America, and Middle East. I also like watching documentaries on criminals / war/drugs/etc.
Growing up I had the typical middle middle class American life. Two story house, gigantic backyard with built in pool, etc. Never really had many friends growing up until I reached college and then everything changed. After graduating college with a degree in English I was grooming myself for a typical American life by attempting to build a career in security but I took the offer to live overseas. And so I'm writing this in Korea.
Korea is awesome. It's a really safe place and the lifestyle seems to be too perfect. It's like a dream world. The cites are big and beautiful. The down side to this place is that it gets really boring really fast and the big cities drain money out of my wallet really fast.
I've made a lot of mistakes living in Korea and wish I could undo them but it's ok. One thing I've noticed here is my friends network always changes really fast. One minute I'm hanging out with one group then I find myself hanging out with another group. I seemingly never have a shortage of friends here. I really don't hang out with other Americans or Westerners - mainly Koreans and Filipinos.
One thing that surprised me is the attitudes of the people in Korea. It's totally different from anything I expected. For the most part the people are really nice and really advanced. They don't have many of the same hang ups as Americans do and seem oblivious to them sometimes.
Korea's a great place but I really want to travel to other more dangerous places. I want some adventure. I want to have some action stories you know. I don't have kids, not married, single, and 26 years old with a toned body. I want to live in a more dangerous country. Korea's a great place to start a business and raise a family but I'm not a family man. I'm a single man and I want some adventure.
I mean I actually thought I'd be in the forests or the jungles or mountains living in tents and having some hard core action you know. I come here and the place is really just as advanced as the U.S. and just as beautiful in many aspects. That's not what I came here for. I need to go to the Filipines or a poorer Asian country.
Living here I've realized that the things that are important in the American culture such as getting women, living in a big nice house, worshipping money but denying it, having a wife and 2.5 kids and a dog is the most boring life I've ever heard of. And will never be for me
